In Veterinos we have created a Veterinary Pain Unit to provide a more complete care to our patients. The target of this unit is to detect and relieve the animals’ pain, in order to improve their quality of life.
One of the biggest challenges of the veterinary profession is that the patient can’t tell us what and how is hurting them. Sometimes the pain is easy to diagnose, even for pet owners — especially if it’s acute —, but it’s not unusual that detecting pain proves harder, because the reaction of pets to pain can be quite diverse. Combining what their owners — who see them daily — tell, clinical explorations, and a few diagnostic tests, we can detect the presence of a source of pain we hadn’t perceived earlier.
There are different types of pain and different techniques to relieve it: medication, physical therapy, homeopathy…
In Veterinos we are developing a combination advanced techniques to make pain disappear, or otherwise reduce it enough so that our patients can enjoy a good quality of life.
